The Planning Group is now to be formulated and we are looking for anyone with enthusiasm for putting on creative community events to share the gospel in the Lewes area and maintain the social network the Passion Play experience evoked.

The commitment will be a meeting around once every six weeks to help inspire and enable agreed events to proceed. This is not a commitment for 5 years!
First informal initial meeting : FRIDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 7.30pm at Serena's (please email for details; we are not posting Serena's address on the web!)
Please email your interest, or send apologies if cannot make this particular date, but would like to be a part of this group - dates, times, venues for follow up meetings (to be agreed by group).
EASTER /SUMMER 2016
Chrissie Pepper has proposed a musical/drama performance for which she is willing to compose or build on previous works - please pray for this and ways forward.

Lewes Passion Play Forum meeting - reminder
Just a quick reminder of our forthcoming forum event:
Lewes Passion Play Forum meeting

This will be an opportunity to discuss the practicalities and legalities of the way forward.
Points to consider:
Lewes Passion Play Forum meeting
Sunday June 14th 3-5pm
Eastgate Baptist church.
This will be an opportunity to discuss the practicalities and legalities of the way forward.
Points to consider:
- What were the positive outcomes of Lewes Passion Play 201
- What were the things we learnt or could have been improved
- Are there other things to do as a Lewes Passion Play group
Do we need to maintain a limited company - Should we do another Passion Play in 2020 - if so, how should that be initialised and organised.

Revisit the Play in pictures!
The 2015 Play Gallery is almost complete, with photos from the four Plays and some behind-the-scenes ones too.
We are short of coverage from the Maundy Thursday play, particularly of Gethsemane and the Trial. If you have pictures which might be added to the Gallery, please email pp2015@informationspan.com.
However ... this is an update, and not one I expected. There appears to be a problem when viewing the Gallery with some browsers. It may display Act 1 when you try to get to Act 2. I'll test a workround in the next day or two, but in the meantime if you see this problem then try a different browser!

Some changes to the website
The Play has happened, in case you didn't notice! So we've made some minor changes to the website, including suspending the Rehearsals online calendar. Future Play events will still be recorded in the Play Events calendar, visible online but lookiung a bit empty right now while everyone draws breath!

More photos; behind the scenes
We've added a new section to the 2015 photo gallery, with some behind-the-scenes and cast photos, mainly from Act 1, and a couple of extra Act 1 pictures. More to follow, along with records of the Thursday, Friday and Easter Sunday plays; watch this space!

Easter weekend worship
Alongside the Passion Play, don't forget to check the Churches Together website for information about Good Friday and Easter worship. You may like to look for an early morning communion service, or a family service later in the morning.
Picking up the pace - three plays in four days!
Today, Maundy Thursday, we will be hard at work constructing staging in Lewes Priory Ruins ready for performance at 8pm where the last Supper and arrest of Jesus will take place, complete with blazing torches (this is Lewes after all!).
If it's totally wet and windy we will relocate to Southover Church and do two performances at 8pm and at 9.15pm to accommodate numbers - the decision will be taken early Thursday morning and we will let you know if we are relocating.
On Friday 3rd April the action moves back to Cliffe Precinct at 1pm where Jesus will be brought before Governor Pilate and King Herod. He will be handed over for crucifixion which will take place once Jesus has processed to the Mount (off Mountfield Road).
Sunday 5th April will find us back in the Priory ruins at 3pm to celebrate the discovery of the empty tomb and realisation of the resurrection of Jesus.
Do hope you will be able to come and see us.
Thank you

Prayer for Holy Week
Dear Supporter,
Thank you for all your support during the preparations for the project. We are very busy with the myriad things still to be sorted for Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Please would you make the following your focus points this week:
* Give thanks for Palm Sunday and all the many details that have all come together and been provided - people for the cast and production team, donkeys, costumes etc - the list is long and we have much to give thanks for.
* Give thanks for the people that came to watch Palm Sunday and the inspiration they have felt through seeing the events portrayed
* Pray for health and strength for all involved, especially the performers and Directors
* Pray for wisdom for the team taking the decision over the venue for Thursday night's performance. The decision will need to be taken on Thursday morning, in view of the weather, whether to hold the evening's performance in the Priory Ruins as planned or in Southover Church.
And let's bring the weather in prayer to the Lord of the weather - that His will be done.

Palm Sunday triumphs ... pics coming (update)
Palm Sunday was a triumph of faith over weather as a substantial crowd followed the Play through Lewes, to Cliffe Precinct and to Harvey's Yard. It was a privilege to be there although, having moved away, we won't be able to attend any of the other Acts. Well done to the cast, crew, writers, musicians and of course the marshalls and others who kept things moving.
We HAVE NOW BEGUN to populate a picture gallery of this year's events. See the link at the right hand side
Join the next Play on Maundy Thursday in the Priory.

Our prayers and best wishes to all those involved in tomorrow's production whether as actors, behind the scenes, directing, marshalling or in any way. And our prayers too that the events which we recreate will speak powerfully of God's love for all people, in all ages, in all of the world, focussed through what Christians believe is the unique person of Jesus.

Four days to go ...
Please give thanks:
- for God’s amazing love expressed for us in the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the opportunity to tell it together in our town.
- for warmth, fellowship and enjoyment in rehearsal
- for sending us a stage manager- for enthusiastic responses to the school workshops
- for a Palm Sunday instrumentalist in the precinct
Please pray:
- that all the detailed planning is honouring to our Lord Jesus Christ and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
- that the Passion Play will have a spiritual impact on our town.
- that it will draw Christians together in love and witness.
- that we’ll all be awake to openings to share the Lord Jesus as we chat about what we are doing.
Specifically:
- for publicity and promotion – that leaflets, articles, the town banner and Tourist information display will be effective and crowds of people will come
- for the coming together and smooth running of all elements of the production.
- for final rehearsals – that everyone in cast and production team will become one body, supporting one another. For those joining the team now may feel quickly welcomed in.
- for remembering of lines
- for final details of costume making
- for stage manager and crew
- for set builders, lighting and sound technicians
- for marshalling and safety matters
- for arrangements with the donkeys
- for final details of music and musicians
- for appropriate weather
- for good health and energy for everyone involved
- for the families and friends of those taking part
and that the Christian community across the town will have a growing sense of anticipation and excitement to use this opportunity for ongoing witness to our living Lord Jesus Christ.

Calling all children (and their families)
Please spread the word to families with children who might like to be involved in the Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday performances and Good Friday and Maundy Thursday ‘crowd’ for Passion Play 2015.
As you will see the first children/crowd music rehearsal has probably already happened by the time you read this. As this is being posted, the rehearsal is today at Southover Church, at 2 p.m. All are welcome!
The subsequent rehearsals all tie in with full rehearsals.
Stella Hull (Musical Director) writes:
We should like to invite you to bring your children to be involved.
Do come and join us to retell the Passion of Jesus Christ this Easter on the streets of Lewes in four acts, each given on a different day to form a “Holy week experience” in real time.
Children (accompanied by parents/carers) are invited to take part in the music and the drama of Act 1 on Palm Sunday afternoon, March 29th, as the action moves through the streets (plus a donkey!) and/or in Act 4 on the joyful afternoon of April 5th, Easter Day itself.
Everyone is of course welcome to watch, or participate, as part of the crowd for Acts 2 and 3 on “Maundy” Thursday evening and Good Friday morning on April 2nd and 3rd. The performances fall within the first week of the Easter holidays.
Rehearsals for children (accompanied by parents/carers) will be mainly on Sunday afternoons:
March 1st, 2:00 – 3:00, at Southover Church (BN7 1JH)
March 8th, 2:00 – 3:30, at Christ Church, Prince Edwards Rd (BN7 1BL)
March 15th, 2:00 – 3:30, at Christ Church
March 22nd, 2:00 – 4:30, at Southover Church
Sat. March 28th, 9:30 – 12:30 Act 1(No LAMC music that day) at Kings Church, Brooks Rd (BN7 2BY)
Sat April 4th, 9:30 – 12:30 Act 4 at St Pancras Church, Irelands Lane (BN7 1QX)

People, materials and more
The preparations for the Passion Play are progressing nicely and we now have some specific needs which we hope you may be able to assist with to some extent.
We need some more willing hands - for sewing basic costumes and also for set building. If you are able to help please let us know ASAP.
We are also looking for materials as specified below and attached. The props team have also put together some items that they are trying to source. Please contact us if you can help with any of these items.
If you supply any costume or props items that you would like returned, then please label them (discreetly) and we will do our very best to ensure they are safely returned to you.

Do join us at St Pancras Church at 6 p.m. on Good Friday.

Prayer support: February newsletter
Please give thanks:
- for God’s amazing love expressed for us in the Passion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the opportunity to tell it together in our town.
- for warmth, fellowship and enjoyment in rehearsal
- for enthusiastic responses to the in-school workshops
Please pray:
- that all the detailed planning is honouring to our Lord Jesus Christ and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
- that the Passion Play will have a spiritual impact on our town.
- that it will draw Christians together in love and witness.
- that it will welcome the involvement of members of the wider community.
Specifically:
- for ongoing rehearsals
- for the cast – that they will settle into their parts, be quick in taking direction and script learning
- for still more people to be drawn into an enlarged ‘crowd’ cast
- for those involved in costume making and sourcing
- for the set builders, stage, lighting and sound technicians
- for creative and physical energy for the directors
- for wisdom as music is woven into the play
- for singers, instrumentalists and children and their families who are now invited to participate.
- for the children in the schools who are taking part in Passion Play music and drama workshops
- that the Christian community across the town will have a growing sense of anticipation and excitement to use this opportunity for ongoing witness to our living Lord Jesus Christ.
- that a willing donkey will become available to us for Palm Sunday!

Be part of the crowd(s)!
With rehearsals well underway we are now looking to ensure we fill our streets with ‘supporting crowd’ cast members and would love your involvement at as many of the performances as possible. Welcome to the Blog and our new look!
2015 means that we have started serious work for the Play. Rehearsals
are now under way, and all the other preparations for the processions,
the staging, the music, prayer support, the backroom work, and much
more.
So there will be much more going on! That's why the centre of the website is now the Lewes Passion Play blog. You can still see all about the Play in 2010, and other events in the last five years, but we've put those off to one side.
If you're looking at this post on the new website, you can follow the link to the Blog itself and you will be able to leave comments (these are moderated, so they may not appear immediately) and view older posts more easily. If you've come to the Blog directly, follow the links at the right hand side to go to the main Play website for all the other information.
There is a new Calendar (follow the link at the side). This is a Google calendar so you can link it to your own calendar, or easily download Calendar entries for individual events. It's in two parts: one for rehearsals; and one for social and fundraising events and for the performances. You can find us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter.
PS - you can also see the photo gallery from the 2014 Mystery Plays, at last!!
